Venerables...


The Board and Director of JamFactory Contemporary Craft and Design are pleased to announce that Prue Venables will be the next Creative Director of JamFactory’s highly regarded Ceramics Studio.

Prue has a significant national and international reputation as a ceramics practitioner and lecturer with extensive experience teaching and exhibiting in Australia and overseas. She has received widespread acclaim for her work for more than 30 years and is represented in numerous important public collections including the National Gallery of Australia and the Powerhouse Museum. Prue has previously held the position of Ceramics Coordinator and Senior Lecturer at RMIT University, where she was involved in developing an innovative course with widely acclaimed standards of technical and aesthetic proficiency.

Prue’s broad international training and professional experiences provide her with a strong awareness of international practice and the ability to successfully promote Australian ceramics widely. Her knowledge and understanding of the medium and experience in an educational role will provide excellent mentoring opportunities for Associates within JamFactory’s Ceramics Studio.

JamFactory’s recently appointed Director, Brian Parkes, says, ‘I am delighted that we have been able to make such a high calibre appointment. Prue will take up the position from 16 August 2010 and will be a valuable addition to the JamFactory community encouraging invention, innovation and excellence within the Ceramics Studio.
