Death is not the end.

Shigeo Shiga
Bernard Sahm

When I was learning to make pots (...like I've finished.) there were only a few contemporary clay books around, particularly Australian ones.As one does I looked to these books (and magazines) for some sense of where I stood vis-a-vis making.Who did I like or was I like...For me, Bernard Sahm and Shigeo Shiga represented the polarities of Australian pottery around that period: Sahm the artist-maker and the Shigeo the potter. There was a tendency to align oneself to one camp or the other.I've been wondering since the deaths of these two artists, what it's been like to be emerging into the current ceramics world.
