the great leap forward

The above graphic by MAMBO 'spanner in the works', Wayne Golding says it all.
It's a sad state of affairs when you are voting someone out rather than enthusiastically voting someone in.
Don't get me wrong I was once a true believer, went through art school on Austudy (thanks, ALP ), worked at the Jam Factory for four years (an initiative of the progressive Labor Premier in South Australia, Don Dunstan.)
In fact, without the Australian Labor Party crafts people would most likely be very rare.(A good or bad thing?)
And it's not just self interest, neither of the major parties seem to have an ideology with regard to social justice.
Lets hope Peter Garret was telling the truth when he said that once they got in they would do what they really want to. Sometimes making knick-knacks for the middle class seems a hard position to defend.
To paraphrase Billy Bragg (with apologies)

mixing pots and politics he asks me what the use is,
I offer him embarrassment and the usual excuses...
