Same old,same old.

Flogging a dead horse? Or endlessly reconfiguring of the same themes and images...?
My favourite quote regarding this dilemma comes from writer Dennis Potter (The Singing Detective, Pennies From Heaven etc.) who compared his particular re-mining of a couple of themes to a farmer who whilst endlessly ploughing the same plot of land in different directions finally uncovers a hitherto undiscovered gold ring.
